Wrapping up the install of an oem alternator, and am curious as to what the additional stud on the bottom right of the alternator is for since it’s not present on the original alternator.

They don’t seem to be addressed in any of the videos I’ve seen, so I just want to make sure I don’t need to cap it or anything.

There is nothing missing nor required to attach to that stud. Can be removed even. However, there was a splash guard that shows up in the parts catalog for just the 98-02 LX's (No LC's) but I haven't actually seen the piece and I have an LX.

You can see the contour matches the alternator and the two fastener locations.

I also believe that’s a spot to clip a wire harness to.
