What's this gray thing on the left? My understanding is that the guy on the right is my main fusible link.

I was driving in Pike National Forest on Sunday and suddenly the horn alarm goes off, car dies. Pop the hood, and the gray piece is literally hanging by a single thread of copper.

Horn/alarm won't reset via key unlock. Car won't start. Disconnected the battery. Reconnected, horn still goes off.

Any ideas? Thanks!

There are three fusible links coming off the terminal.
That is connected to the pink fusible link, or it needs to be. Think you found your problem. You could connect it with another piece of wire to get going again.

And what killed it is when I had the car in the shop a few weeks ago The mechanic apparently didn't strap the battery back down. It was just sitting in the tray. So went on a light wheeling trip, and it wore the cord apart. The only dealer in the front range who had it was in Boulder, so I had to rent a u-haul trailer and tow the vehicle out of the mountains, and then drive to Boulder to grab the part.

Of course, stopped by Slee on the way home, and they had it in stock. Would have shaved over an hour off the trip. :bang:

Your problem is you don't have the rubber grommet in the battery 'box' hole that those wires are going thru. Get that & you won't rub the FL's in half again.
