I'm looking for the part number for the two gaskets that go between the exhaust manifolds and the downpipe/Y pipe.

Can someone help me out, please?

BTW, it's for a 1995 80.

Thanks!

Never mind--got it taken care of. Can a Mod please delete this thread? Guess it doesn't really need to be here.

Thanks!

I should have posted it in January. I don't know what it is, now. :whoops:

The gasket is 90080-43036. The studs are 90116-10146 and take an E10 socket. I would recommend getting the e-socket in case you bugger the lock nuts. The lock nuts are 90080-17187. All parts are sold each.

Any hints as to how to unbolt the thing. I've given it a few go's, but there just ain't much room/leverage.

Sounds like I need to start hitting those bolts with PB Blaster - I've got both gaskets sitting in my center console, just waiting for some time to get them replaced.

I'm hoping this will fix the slight gurgle sound I hear when the windows are down.

Lots of penetrating oil applied over several days, even twice a day, applied to the top, bottom and sides of the flanges. Use lots! Then you'll have to crawl under the truck with a bunch of extensions and a big ratchet. I used a 1/2" ratchet and anywhere from 2-4 extensions depending on which nut I was working on. I could have used more, but didn't have any. The various extension lengths and angles might seem a little funny at first, but all the nuts are accessible. I can't remember if you'll need a deep socket or not. Just remember to keep your head on the ground. If you spend all that time lifting your head, you're going to strain your neck muscles. It hurts, I've done it.

I had originally planned on removing the exhaust manifold from the head, unbolting the two cats from each other and snaking the exhaust manifold x down pipe assembly out through the engine bay so I'd have better access to those nuts on the underside of the down pipe flanges. I soon realized that's totally crazy and unbolted the exhaust manifold from the down pipe whilst on the truck. I ended up replacing a bunch of other exhaust gaskets (exhaust manifolds, cat x cat, cat x muffler) and hardware since I had already bought it all. Don't do it if you don't have to. It's a bit of a hassle. I will say, though, I was able to remove all four nuts that hold the two cats together and the second cat to the muffler by using various sizes of sockets and wrenches. A pipe extension was needed to initially loosen the nuts. The outside of that hardware was kinda rotten, but there's good steel if you can get a grip on it.

Thanks! That information makes this thread have a reason to exist.

I will be giving C-Dan a call today and cruising by Sears for some additional extensions.

I gave the bolts a good shot of PB blaster last night and I could totally see the gap on mine and took some cell phone pics that I will post tonight.

mkfour, what did you mean exactly by this? "I would recommend getting the e-socket in case you bugger the lock nuts." I didn't follow.

First off, Thanks to Dan for the parts [(2) Gaskets, (4) studs & (4) locking hex nuts]. Of course he had them in Stock!

I picked up a (4) pack of Craftsmen socket extensions: 1.5", 3", 6" & 10" and I have been PB Blasting for a few days now.

So back to the parts, do I need to grease an exhaust gasket?

Nope. Plug and play.

Thanks for the reminder....
The light was shining off of the exhaust heat shield so it made the photo pretty crappy...

Thanks for the pic - I can see the gap in the forward (right of photo) pipe connection.

You can also see the torx stud easily.

Thanks again!

Replacing the y pipe was a total pia on my rig. I cross threaded the threads in the engine and had to retap it. Hope you guys have a better time than I did.

Well mine is being a Pain in the ARSE too. Three of the nuts came off like butter but one of them and the stud that was showing won't come out.....
But this is not the manifold to the engine block like you were doing, this is the manifold to the down pipe flange.

Man, I spent most of the day on this nut. I was able to get the other stud out using a 1/4" socket on the star at the end of the stud. But of course that wouldn't work on the stud that is stuck with the nut... So currently I am 2/3 of the way through cutting off of the lock part of the nut and the stud. But I am going through quite a few dremmel blades. I think they make stronger blades so I will grab some of those tomorrow to get the rest of the way through the stud.
I gotta finish this bad boy tomorrow or I will be taking the bus and the trolley to work Monday....

I used a Lexus technician with an impact to get those off :D

We undid the hanger on one of the downpipes as well as the one behind the cats to drop the y-pipe low enough to get the old out/new in. A long prybar gently wiggled the pipes off the manifold studs. I wish my downpipes looked as pristine as yours though!
