I am doing a complete rebuild on a 94 Land Cruiser 80 series as a first time project. I would like to eliminate the cats, egr and pair reed valve systems and move the O2 sensors up to the exhaust manifold. The muffler is rusting out and the cats I would like to remove so I have room to install a heater hose setup for the rear heater system. I see Manta has a bolt on exhaust kit for a 94 but pricey. Other than going to a muffler shop what other options can you recommend? I read a few older threads on the topic but was curious if I missed options in my online search. Thank you for your feedback.

I am overhauling the engine and having the transmission and transfer case inspected. Starter and alternator have been rebuilt. I have rebuilt the knuckles and brake system, all suspension bushings have been replaced. PO had ran into street light and overheated engine and needing to replace radiator, a/c condenser and oil cooler. Leaning towards the reproduction radiator from Cruiser Corps. I inspected the engine harness, changed out all damaged pigtails, and rewrapped with high temp shrink tubing and tape. Have worked on the power seat components but that is it on the interior. Long process but hopefully will be a DD in a year’s time. All input if appreciated on what to consider while in this stage.

Since overhauling your engine, make sure to check on them manifold bolts. I had 2 loose and 1 broken but no rattle sounds to warn me before topend refreshed.
And perhaps do the PPH if not already or good time yo do heater bypass.

Am a newbie. What is pph? Heater bypass for the rear heat?

There are a number of reasons not to eliminate the cats with a big one being avoiding the stink that these make if run without cats. There are numerous reports of this complaint on the forum from others that have removed their cats. Of course, the cats also reduce tailpipe emissions.
