I'm not sure how the OEM clutch is branded. I'd say order from a known Cruiser parts dealer ( Cruiserparts, Cruiseroutfitters, etc. ) or the dealer if you're going that route.

I've also heard good things about LUK clutch kits, but have no first hand experience myself.

Go Centerforce...

Luk.

Have installed many of them and I am currently running one in my Red truck...

Asco is the OEM ... SOR is currently having a sale on Kit. Clutch, rear main seal, T/O bearing, alignment tool, pilot bearing... $221

FWIW, all dealer clutches now come as only as "Remanufactured" units. This is from C.Dan Mine came that way, but there were no obvious marks on it indicating reman.

Did you see Spike Strips post?

Call Cruiser Dan at American Toyota, phone is 1-800-432-6668 ext. 8 and get an OEM I bet he can $OR.

I have been more than pleased with remaned stuff from the Six States clutch shop in Salt Lake City. They have been around for more than 20 years, they know what they are doing and thier prices are great. It's nice to go in there after five years and see the same, experienced guys at the counter.

stock..

Expensive clutches for a LC are basicaly expensive clutches..

Go the Exedy, best quality clutch for the money on the market, and a choice of different clamping forces. These are new units and good japanese quality.

That is a killer deal ! Best I've seen for OEM.

I didn't see a mention of Daikin clutches. They (and Aisin) were often the manufacturers of the OEM parts.

When I operated a repair facility in San Diego some years back, I saw 2 instances where Centerforce clutches wiped out the engine crankshaft thrust bearings. One truck was a 22R Toyota.

It turns out that those clutches place a greater lateral load on the engine crankshaft that the thrust bearings are not engineered or manufactured to handle.

So, while there are probably thousands of satisfied owners of Centerforce clutches, I will continue to use good quality new aftermarket clutch assemblies, like Aisin or Daikin.

Cheers,

Rick

I think the Exedy is Daikin... Exedy USA anyway... Exedy Japan may be separate products.

The exedy clutch pictures show a coil sprung clutch hub. Not up to indestructible Cruiser standards.

Here's a good deal on a genuine Aisin clutch
Ebay Clutch kit.

Damn that's a good deal. I just might buy that....

EDIT: I just bought it. Thanks for posting it up!
