great job on the resto, i just read the whole thread.
good to see old girls like this saved and that camo looks good, its a hell of a lot harder to paint camo than it looks when finished

looking bloody good; we gonna have to start calling you aussie 47! took me a while to find this thread; i dont often stray too far from the 25 page. anyways love your work well done. great to a good project moving along. finally got a motor back in my 64 fj45 and using it daily as the workshop runabout here on the station its great to have her driving again. its far from how i want it but nice to use and saves cold starting the diesels all the time for small jobs. tempted to do a little thread of my own soon. next mission is get 25 tray driveable. there used to be one of these troopys 100km from here i have to see if its still there they were not very mechanically minded people. also know of a roughy at marble bar that has been butchered into a mustering buggy. and heard of a restored example in a small town military museum in the wheatbelt here (cunderdin or somewhere nearby) if i see any i will get some pics for you. anyways keep up the good work

Thanks Dales33 the camo wasn't to hard, painted the lot green then coppied the patton of the photos as best i could, after a copple of beers.

Been doing a bit, stripped and repainted the front seat frames, the 30 years of being a soft top was showing a bit, now waiting for them to come back with new vinal.
Ordered some more canvas and strapes to get the new canvas top made, carn't wait for that bill, then i will have the top.
Gee it nice to drive one with power straring.

update

Good to see that she is coming together for you mate.
I agree that they are a pleasure to drive with the power steering. I certainly don't regret converting mine, but it was pricey with the 40 series box. I think that the next thing for mine will be a 5 speed though as she drinks fuel on the free way, and the 2H is revving a bit hard to stay at 100 kmh with the 4 speed. All of these army HJ47's seem to have the same problem with the seats, I re sprung, re cushioned and re covered both of my seats after cleaning up the rust and refinishing the frames in black epoxy paint to give them some protection. I am still waiting for the head rests to come back. I also got an extra set of adjustable seat rails for both the drivers seat and the double passengers seat, I then took one of each from both seats to put on the single passenger seat. This does make a difference for the comfort of the passenger!
I would post some more pictures of my beast, but the forum won't let me, somthing about exceeding my quota!

Good to see you are still improving yours. I had to replace the fome and springs in my RH seat also. I like your thoughts on the LH seat rails, thats thinking of your passanger. I hope i have enough camo canvas left to make some seatcovers for them.
I am also fixing the door trims. The bord in them has been wet.
A sine writer gave me a sheet of materal that is 3mm thick that is lamanated out of alloy black polly and alloy. He said it cuts easy and you can use a wad punch to cut holes. I will put some pickies up if it works ok.

If you have the cash you can get new old Toyota stock door trims as I did from all four spares at Kotara NSW, they are grey just like the originals but at $165.00 per trim!! Still probably cheaper than the amount of effort to reproduce them. If you have problems with the canvas give me a yell, my trimmer is an ex RAAF life support fitter that now does all sorts of work for vehicles and aircraft and did have a bit of this left at one stage after a job for a defence contractor. The problem with this Canvas is that it fades very badly ( I would get the canvas top remade from green canvas if possible) another thing that my trimmer pointed out with it is that canvas does shrink by a fair bit when it has been wet. Varley, a defence contractor tied up with doing special mods to the G wagon for the army at the moment, made a wheel cover for one of their vehicles using this stuff and after some rain and sun it shrank so much that they had to cut off. My seats are upholstered using this stuff but it is only on the seat top and backrest surfaces, the gusstes are made with an olive drab vinyl. This gives it a bit of stretch and as an added precaution I washed and dried the canvas for a week or so before we started patterning it. From memory this stuff has a 5% shrink factor and this is up the length of the roll ( info from the manufacturer) . I hope that this is of a little help to you.
Cheers.
