By the way, if you need to get some of the propper metal bungie cord hooks, my trimmer also has those.
Cheers.

Thanks for that info . New trims would be nice . I will give it a bash with this sheet first.
Your seats sound great with the different canvas. Pickies..
I found a supplier in sydney to get the camo canvas from, he makes tops for the army and has all the edging and strap for the buckles.
Those metal bungi cord hooks i will keep thet in mind.

I can relate to that srink factor, i worked for a company that had series 3 landys working on Fraser Island . We got new tops from the army desposials and after a year had to ger them extended by 100mm.
I am going to hose it before i hand it on . In the hood bows i built they have about 60mm ajustment for srinkage so i hope it turns out good.
Cheers.

canvas

I am not sure who you have sourced to manufacture your canvas, but my trimmer has told me that Robco products in Sydney will most likely have an original drawing for the landcruisers as they have been making canvas for army vehicles for years. He told me you should speak with Andrew Page and his contact number is 02 9517 1399.

May I may suggest using the rubberized material instead of canvas.
The gent that did my cover mostly does boat covers and after a long talk with him on the pros and cons of canvas versus the rubberized material I went with the rubberized. It will not shrink (canvas will), will not stretch, (canvas mostly will not) will not sag much in 100 degrees of heat, (canvas will hold up in the heat) will not leak (after sometime canvas will dry out and rot and lose most of its sealing power from uv rays), and best it was lots cheaper than canvas. It comes in many colors. It is actually the same martial that the US Army used on the newer truck and HV's and trailers. I am sorry I do not have a name for it but I can get it if interested. May have something in OZ that is alike. Just a suggestion.

G'day Guys, here is a picture of my seats after the upholstery was done. I am still waiting on the head rests.

Hi Blitz, The seats look great in the camo, it goes well with the rest of it. I got my seats back as well ,but havent taken any pictures yet.
Good old Australia Post has put the top on hold because they lost the parcle with the 25 brass buckles 4 weeks agao and the supplier has no more.
I have done a bit more on it, got the back panel fitted and all the hooks for the tarp on and the tac plate holders, even found a tac plate.
I have to change the sump yet as it has devloped an oil leak betweem the sump and bashplate, just a nother little job.

Hi Aussie, I have been lucky enough to come across a large collection of original army service and modification instructions for the hj74's.

i am also curious to how your pain is holding up. as this is the next item im going to tackle on my truck

What a great find

That is a great find of the paper work on the 47s.
The paint is ok so far ,but i havent had it in the bush yet.

Bit of an update.
Havent got a lot done but it is still going foward.
Have the seats repaired and back in now.

The Army had fixed seat belts in the frount, i didn't like them. So i cut the seatbelt brackets off the rear roll cage in a 1985 Toyota 4runner and welded them on the rollcage in the army. The seatbelt reels fitted fine, even the buckles fit. I just have to paint the welds.

Also like a lot of 2H moters with the sump guard on they rust the sump out. Mine has done it to ,so the sump is off waiting for me to fit a nother one.

G'day Spot,
I don't suppose that technical data you have found has a wiring schematic for the army modifications does it? I am specifically looking for the wiring for the lighting system.
Cheers.
Pat

Cheers Shane,
I have not, but I will. Would it be possible to get a copy of the material that you have got? It would be interesting to put with the toyota manuals I have for my beast, and would also be interesting for a read.
Cheers.
Pat
