You must be confusing CA with IL! You could walk into any gun store and buy an AR, AK whatever. But we do have to deal with the stupid 10 round mag limit and bullet button loophole (no finger push mag release, requires a "tool")

I heard if you had 30 round mags previous to the new legislation you could "grandfather" them in... I'm probably wrong on that but just what I was getting at.

Oh gotcha. Yeah that's true. Another stupid loophole we have... you could walk into a gun store and buy a brand new 30rd mag as long as it's a "rebuild kit". Meaning they take it apart and hand it over. It's legal as long as you have it taken apart. If you assemble it and it's not pre-ban then it's illegal. That's how stupid our politicians are. They try so hard to ban stuff then we figure out all the loopholes
