Good points, I am trying to avoid those disturbing pictures above, but Uwharrie could be a nightmare of "kids-on-jeeps" applying more power and more power

Now that civic and parenting duties are done with Matthews Alive, thinking about going to Linville Falls and driving down Old 105, hiking trails along the way. Looks like Old 105 is just a gravel road so no big deal wheeling. Would be cool to do Brown Mountain while out there, maybe I will get lost coming back.....

Izzy hit FSR 192 between edgemont and roseborough roads. Nice easy trail safe enough to do solo. Good stream to follow with a few camp/picnic spots.

Found it! Thank you. The entry and exit points are saved as waypoints in map app. Looks like it's closer to Grandfather Mnt. Linville Falls is Southeast on map below. FSR192 is also SR1530 in Googlemaps

No worries, don't know yet what we are doing. but that route sounds good, Linville Falls first (2.8 mile hike) then head North and drive to FSR 192, come out and maybe hit Grandfather Mountain trail and the mile high siwnging bridge. Or just drive down Old 105 after Linville, all depends on time and passenger getting antsy pants.

Did Linville Falls trails, very crowded, lots of mall walkers, not a good time. Then headed to SFR192. When we got to the entry point, there were lots of vehicles parked on the road, and a but ugly Buick Redenzvous blocking 192. Not sure where the heck was everyone, but a very busy traffic intersection, weird.

There a deep gully next to 192, and I decided that the cruiser can take it and avoid the Buick, no problem. This road is cool, few rocky areas, but lots of moguls and challenging areas with deep ruts. Family was freaking out so it wasn't fun, but I want to go back, it was worth it.

Beginning of road, aired down to 30 to make less bumpy

Hard to see on below, but the ruts are deep and made for cool technical drive

The second half is a decent gravel road, there were a few see roads to explore, but not with my crew

This is the rout, from the entry point in the Blue Ridge Pkwy, to 192 turnoff, to Edgemont turn, back to Pkwy.

This is the stats on the ride, started at 3800 ft, down to 2200, then back to 4200 ft. The whole loop was 1:45, could have been longer if side trails explored. It follows the mountains to sea trail for a while.

Didn’t end up making it to Hurricane creek after all due to having to run to work on Thursday morning ….. after I already left on Wednesday night got half way there and had to turn around. So got a late start on Thursday. Took the scenic route up, had some beers on lake lure… explored some of the the fire roads in Pisgah before heading to cove creek for the night. Next few days are a blurr…. Breakfast at 5000 ft, great views, sierra Nevada brewery and Brevard Brewery. A night time expo trip through some back roads that turned into a night time rally course to get back before some friends showed up….. kicking the back end out of a 7000lbs truck happened quite a few times… a “short” Sunday evening hike that turned into a 2 ½ hour night hike and then a 3 ½ hour mini search and rescue expo when a few of our group members turned around just short of the trail end and then accidentally wandered up a different trail on the way back.

Lots of swimming in creeks sliding down rocks, good food, great beer, great people, etc……..

didn't get a ton of pics but here is a few
