Daaamn, that one has UNIMOG portal axles on it!
edit: Well, definitely portals. I was assuming MOGs since that's within the Mercedes-Benz family, but they actually don't look like any MOG portals I've ever seen.

If my 100 got totalled again, I'd replace it with a 2004+ Mercedes G500 or G55 AMG. It is a Mercedes so when the luxury electronics fail, they're expensive to replace. But the trucks are solid and last forever.
Are you ruling out sedans? Do you want to stay in an SUV?
If you want a sport sedan,
2003-2006 E55 AMG. They are power houses, and reliable. We have ours on the race track frequently, the looks I get when I pass Ferrari's is priceless. With a few bolt on parts you can push 600HP, it's a bit tail happy though...
Audi S4. I spent a weekend tracking my brothers S4, and it was a fabulous car. Plenty of power, handles like it's on rails. It's descent on gas, and super comfortable. We kept up with a GT3, until the tires were shot.
However, the best choice of all...is buying another 100. They are slow, bland to drive, terrible on gas, horrid in corners, and most of the OEM stuff (radio, headlights, exhaust, wood trim) seems to be sub-par...but it's a timeless classic, it will never leave you stranded as long as you take care of it. I have ran my 100 into the ground, I drive it hard, I wheel it hard, I wash it every year or so...but I'll be damned...it never quits working. I love mine so bad I've put 5 steering racks in it!
Never considered a Mercedes before. I've driven my neighbor's and wrote the entire line off immediately. The AMGs seem to be a different pedigree though. From what I read about the E55 AMG, it sounds like a really nice ride.
The dependability aspect is what I'm really after. No other vehicle I've spent time in even comes close to the 100 series.
Mercedes once were the best-engineered vehicles in the world. They had (still have I believe) an official high mileage program whereby if you can show them documented proof of 1,000,000 km in one of their vehicles (maintenance receipts, etc.), they will give you a brand new replacement Mercedes, for free! Lots of the old E-class taxis in Europe would routinely rack up 500K+, especially the diesels..
My dad sold his 1983 300D Turbo Diesel that he had owned from new with 445k miles. No issues. Tires, brakes and oil. Repeat. I was responsible for changing the brakes and oil and diesel oil is nasty.
