I'm thinking of using Toyota's two step A/C refresh kit which comes with the foam can to clean the evaporator core:

Has anyone else done this? Can anyone direct me to where the a/c drain is? I understand that I can run the a/c until I can see the drips coming from underneath the car but I'd rather save the trouble if possible.

Save the money and just use brake cleaner to clean the evaporator. I used that on my 1986 F-350. Put a hose on one end of the evaporator going into a bucket and spray away until the brake cleaner comes out clean. Then just blow compressed air through it and let it air dry and you're good to go.

Thanks for the tip. From my understanding though the evaporator core isn't super easy to access from the dash so the easiest way to clean it is through the drain tube, not sure if there's a good way to get brake cleaner up there that way.

Well, I wouldn't try doing it through the drain tube. The only way to properly do it would be to disconnect the lines under the hood that go from the compressor and the condenser and connect to the evaporator.

If you want to clean it properly you're going to have to drain all the freon you have in it now, clean EVERYTHING with brake cleaner, hook it all back up, put a vacuum on it for about 15 minutes then charge from there. I wouldn't even waste your time with cleaning it through the drain because that's not going to do a good job.

What makes you want to do this in the first place?

There's a mild musty smell that wasn't fixed by cycling ozium throught the vents and I've noticed some condensation under my floormats beneath the glovebox. Leads me to believe the drain from the condenser is clogged/ dirty.

Yep..sounds clogged. If you don't have a healthy amount of water dripping on the ground when you run the AC...that is a sure sign of a clog too.
