7''round euro style DELTA 7" H4 60/55 XENON HIGH/LOW EURO STYLE HEADLIGHTS - CarParts Quality Discount Parts and Accessories

Trucklite Military LED Lamps
I email'd ICON an they cant or dont have any for sale
an they were looking into switching to LED headlights
personally I like the fact of removing the fender blinkers ..
has anyone here switched over to that set-up or anything like that??

Cool LEd's.
That said, quite price prohibitive unless you have a non-retail source.

May have missed it but did not see an option, on the site provided, for a amber signal lamp with in the housing. Neat idea. Will wait for less than a $500.00 price though. You can get allot of head light bulbs and/or other cruiser parts for that coin.

pictures of a military vehicle with the LED's.

Ah! $55.00 is more like it.
How much physical abuse can these take as compared to a "standard" head lamp?

Looked up the Summit offering. They had an h-4 bulb. An h-4 did not appear to be an LED unit. Am I incorrect?

Sorry, I was responding to the first part of the post about headlights with turn signals. It's a H-4 bulb and a turn signal in the bottom portion.

Roger that. Still a great idea. Going have to check with the recon fellers in Honolulu if this would work for them here is Hawaii. Getting a bit tired of replacing and attempting to protect the turn signals.
Cool thread. Hope someone posts up a more economical, DOT approved version of the LED's.

TLC was selling the lights for a little while, but they took them off their Icon site. Otherwise, I've been trying to find them, too.
Look up Twisty's Aussie FJ40 Buildup thread, he buys some lights with LED signal light rings around them, and has a link to the store he got them from. They're not that expensive, too, If memory serves.

speedway motors has the H4 drop in LED lights..

I have them on my 40.

Another possibility, is to look into LED replacement bulbs that are fitted for the halogen socket. I can't remember where, but there was a company selling LED-bulb replacements.

I think I just googled "LED Car Overhead Lights" or something like that, and found them.

Heres the lights I run (2nd down on the left)

Can get the ring in different colour, I just got white and used them as the park lights, but yellow is available, which might pass for a turn signal.

I would much prefer some like the Icon was running if they were available cheaper.

Cool stuff.
Checked into the subject with the DOT (Dept. of Transportation, Hawaii for those in other countries). they will only allow primary forward illumination and/or secondary lighting if the lense has a US DOT certification embossed in the lense. Guess this is why I had to remove the old school KC lights in order to get my recon cert.

Anybody have a DOT certified option for less than a rebuilt tranny?

I think you all are asking about these.

Truck-Lite's 12v LED Headlamp

Not available to April 2009 in 12v. Too much money for me. Crazy thing about LED lights is that they are much easier and cheaper to make than incandescent.

You guys might also want to read this wikipedia article about headlights in general. Apparently LED headlights use more power halogen and are less bright than HID at this point. HID puts out the most light for the least amount of power and they are much cheaper than an LED light.

Interesting reading. The effectiveness of artificial light is a combination of factors. lumens/candle power, cohesion/focus of the beam, color gradient. If these are closer to "sunlight" than any of the others it would seem that visual acuity with in the lamps reach would be superior. Sounds great for crawling but, maybe not so much for desert racing.

FYI: Levine Lighting, Joeyg1973's link emailed me back: These head lamps are USA DOT approved! Now, just have to wait for the price to drop and hopefully see some in action.

I am looking into finding out about a harness for the 7'' round w/ built in turn signal.........I reply back as I find out..seems the state california is not alright with the led ring around a headlight an using it as a blinker..I thought it might look alright.
