Just made a cannonball run from Delhi, LA where I'm working for the next few months over to Shreveport to pick up my new pickup. I've been searching for a few weeks for either a 4-wheeler/trailer or a pickup for work.

During rural seismic operations I end up walking way more that I want to in order to avoid putting my 100 in the mud. This pickup solves that problem, carries my boat and will be sporty around town and on the trail.

It's a desirable year because it is the last year of the solid front axle, first year for EFI. Extra cab is a bonus.

CL add popped up Monday afternoon. The owner was duck hunting at Toledo Bend until today at 11:30 when he gave the go ahead for me to come check it out. I rented a U-Haul in Delhi and was there at 2:00. The truck was originally purchased by the seller's grandfather, passed to his dad and then to him. They rebuilt the motor before he went to college, 60K and 8 years ago. Garage parked for the last 3 years as an extra vehicle.

My plan is to fix some little stuff, baseline it and then leave it alone. No build plans... so far. I'm staying in a crew house in Delhi, so I'll bring my tools over and tinker in the small garage in the evenings. Better than TV, to be sure.

Immediate needs are:
- rebuild auto locking hubs or source some selectable hubs (prefered)
- new battery
- fix leaky manifold (striped bolt)
- bolt down the warn 8K winch that's just sitting in the bumper right now
- remove the plastic toolbox, possibly replace

Next stage:
- re-cover seats
- fix AC (summertime)
- springs since they are shot
- soundproofing for the interstate.
- stop some small cancer spots
- remove a funny college-stage speaker box in the back

The 100 did great towing, even in the rain. Rear springs are shot, but the weight and tow car positioning of the u-haul trailer contributed to that. Trailer is designed such that you have to put the car all the way forward.

1985 Toyota Truck Xtra Cab 4x4
Fuel injected 4 cylinder
5 speed manual transmission
Manual shift 4x4, automatic locking hubs, straight axle up front
A/C, power steering
Aftermarket Sony CD player/radio
Engine rebuilt 60,000 miles ago, 246,XXX miles
Truck was originally my grandfathers and was an everyday truck of mine up until 3 years ago when I bought another Toyota. It has been in the garage for the majority of the 3 years. There is a few rust spots on the body but generally in great shape. Engine may need some attention: the 4 wheel drive will not engage and when the brake is applied the engine idle jumps.
Warn 8000lbs winch, 31X10.5X15 BFGoodwrench All Terrain tires. Toolbox with working lock.

Congrats great find! Name? Marty or McFly?

DO NOT REBUILD the auto hubs! Source some manual hubs and buy the washers (2)and 54mm nuts(4) to convert over! Awesome looking truck! Jealous!

Send me an email and I'll send you the fsm for it.

AWESOME!

Great score Greg. I owned that identical truck in 1985, even had the same graphics. Bought it new, forced sale in divorce. Have regretted it ever since. Losing the truck I mean. You'll love it.

Sweet find. I believe your comment last Tuesday was "I don't need to wrench". Now you get to wrench.

bang zoom!

He shoots... He SCORES!

I think that Jordan may have just picked up some lockouts on some spare axles he bought. Might see if he'll part with them.

Cool find, Greg. You bringing it to Katemcy?
