SILVER Star
After driving my grandfather's car for almost a year I became ready for a cruiser again. My main desire was for something that would hold up to the roads I drive daily. 4runners had my attention for a while but for the money I couldn't ignore 80's and 100's, especially considering payload for camping and boating. My first cruiser, the FJ62 came from a dealer in Memphis and I've alway's wanted a blue truck so when this one popped up I jumped:
96, locked, owned by David Stanberg in Memphis, Non-winch bumper, customized seats (@Bossman ), lots of evidence of PM. Looks like the last guy that had it after David was somewhat neglectful though.
I've been looking it over and driving it some, here's the run down on s*** that I want to do:
-Rotors - has almost a death wobble when breaking. It's getting worse, so I'll dive in to this project pretty soon
- Alarm/ Door lock clicker. Gotta source one. Y'all know where I live. The back doors don't respond to electric lock button. The door light didn't work when I picked the truck up but it just started working yesterday.
- Install castor correction shims - I'll ask @wct49 to hook me up when I get it down 49 for some love.
-Wobbly right mirror - saw fix in FAQ
- Source OEM blue fender flares - I'm generally headed back to stock
-Left taillight is cracked
- Landcruiser emblem on lift gate is missing
- Antenna missing - 86337-60080
- Steering wheel is rough - wrap it
- paint center caps
-paint rear bumper
- radio and clock fuse blows when I plug a cell phone into the cig lighter - work around or fix this
- seatbelt retractor fix - FAQ
- slow windows, interior and exterior window gasket that runs along the window at the top of the door is bad
-Get 315 spare up underneath the truck
-Receiver hitch so I can use my basket
- improved center console - need better security for s*** I leave in the truck
- better tunes. Alpine deck and front speakers are a good start but I gotta improve the low end
I've been debating selling the non-winch bumper and the cargo barrier. This will be mostly a camping rig since for the next few years camping with my son will be my main focus. A roof rack would be much more useful to me than the non-winch bar and I can't really see the use for the cargo barrier since I don't have a dog and this truck won't see trails with a full load very often. The factory roof rack is gone, and the holes in the roof has some goop on them. I'll be looking to improve the seal on those soon. Haven't dug into the roof rack options yet but budget will limit me there. Hope to be able to carry a couple of kayaks up there so I may just do some Yakima bars.
Lot's of cleaning and touching up cosmetic stuff but I have a lot to work with. No stickers on it yet either, whatup @Bodean !
