I wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the Tuff Canvas fabric for the Escape Gear Seat Covers.

Escape Gear Seat Covers - Against The Elements (scroll down)

The charcoal color and extra durability are very appealing, but they would need to be ordered directly from Escape Gear in South Africa. While the cotton seat covers probably feel and look great, I would prefer to get away from the light grey interior.

Also has anyone tried ordering directly from Escape Gear? While the $140 shipping seems bad its much better than the mark up at Equipt1.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Nope, just more info on the cotton fabric covers and installing them.

I've special ordered stuff from Escape through Equipt before. I'm sure if you want them that'd be the path of least resistance. In my opinion it's worth the premium to go through the US distributor because at some point you're going to need to some kind of service. A replacement cover, a repair, etc.

Try the 100 forum, pics/threads and feedback. Not a 200 but give you lots to chew on.

I have them on my 70 series and absolutely love them.

Ordered from Paul May at Equipt Outfitters.

ESCAPE GEAR

They are custom made and took about 4-6 weeks, IIRC.

Very nice product and well thought out. They are worth the premium IMO and you support an American business.

(apologies for the dirtyness. Top is off the 70 and the inside gets dirty)

The cool Escape sticker. I like.

I've been thinking about getting some brackets made up to mate the 200 to a Scheel-mann seat. I happen to think the 200 seats are pretty good, but the Scheel-mann's are incredible. I'd lose the seat cooling (scheel-mann can come with seat heat).

I have them on my 2016 and love them. Just had them washed after putting them 6 months ago. It’s the best upgrade you can do for Your interior. Will post pictures later. It took me an hour to put them on. Definitely high quality material and almost water repellent.

Thank you to everyone for the input on the Escape Gear covers.

Just a note, it seems almost everyone here has ordered the cotton covers. Anyone have experience with the polycotton Tuff Canvas finish? I would hate to special order them and have them be too hot or uncomfortable.

I expect your conclusion is correct that we all have the cotton canvas covers as I haven't seen the charcoal colors show up in anyone's photos. One point of note is that the standard canvas covers aren't exactly dainty. I think most of us who have them beat them pretty hard and they continue to perform. The only potential drawback worth vetting would be breathability for the leather below as well as the seat heating/cooling functions. I'd say those features operate at 75% with the cotton canvas covers. Talk to Paul at Equipt. He'll steer you in the right direction.

I tried and tried to get a Scheel-mann or Recaro installed in my Tacoma. I tried every high end off road shop and even race shops, but no one would touch it for liability fear because it would defeat the side airbags. The only way to get it done from my experience would be to do it yourself and figure out/make custom brackets. It's unfortunate because I prefer aftermarket seats too.

Recaro Topline is available in cooled seat form.

The stock seats in the 200 aren't great at all.

There was a post a few weeks back on IG detailing a Recaro install in a 200. They looked really clean and matched the rear seats well. I cannot remember which account though.

Just following up on this thread that I started. Finally got my Escape Gear covers in my truck. After deciding on the grey cotton canvas covers I took @indycole ’s advice and reached out to Equipt. It seems that they have brought their prices (but not shipping, $90 just for front row ouch!) on Escape Gear seat covers back down to reality. A few months ago I was seeing a $100+ delta between the Escape Gear website and Equipt. They are now the same. Kristin at Equipt was a pleasure to work with and I look forward to my next purchase with them.

A note on the covers themselves. These are the Rolls Royce of Seat Covers and your 200 series deserves nothing less. Fit and finish are excellent and they were much easier to put on then others have noted. I feel much more comfortable getting in an out of my truck without worrying if a zipper, leatherman, etc is going to catch on my seats and tear them. Additionally, the seats are cooler compared to the leather and much easier to clean. I would highly recommend these to every 200 series owner and believe it should be of the first “mods” anyone does.

You need to call or email Equipt, I think they are working on updating their site with new pricing.

I too noticed they are not on the site. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the front set run you, shipped?

$250 + $90 shipping. Luckily had a set they had in the warehouse so I did not have to wait for them to be made in South Africa. Just a shame that that the shipping is so high.
