I am finally ready to purchase a winch.

The question is which winch?

I have spent a few hours reading on here what I could find on each. I am looking specifically for feedback from 80 series owners. The biggest limiting factor for me of course is money. Has to be under $500. Which is why is chose the Engo which gives (IMHO) the most bang for the buck. I can however at this time find several decent looking and functioning 8274s. I am aware these are only 8000 lbs winch but are workhorses and mostly reliable, easily rebuilt , and have parts available if needed. They also have a reputation for easily pulling more than 8000 lbs.

I wheel 6-8 times a year in everything from dirt, mud, rocks, to snow.

We all know the 80 series are pigs.

So...which best fits my application?

one issue might be fitting in your bumper. Does the 8274 fit the ARB front bumper?

Not without some "coaxing". It does fit the commercial version which I don't have. Others on here have trimmed to fit the 8274.

I didn't write down their screen names. Hope they don't mind the share.

Argh - I lost signal and my post crashed so here is the short and sweet version.

If your bumper can hold an 8274 and you can get one in your budget that works well then do that.

If your 80 is supa heavy then go with a stronger winch.

The Engo's are good winches for the price but they aren't an 8274. They also don't cost the same.

Well the Engo is on back order til September. So...I picked this up just now off of craigslist for $360.

Needs some TLC but it works. Had the seller hook it to a battery and it powers in and out.

Came with a nicer looking cable and hook separate.

Let the cleaning and cutting begin.
