Hey guys, quick question. I have a 1985 auto Toyota pick that I did an engine swap on with a 1990 22re. Used the intake, tb, and injectors from the 85 to work with the original ecu and harness. Switching over to a 1990 5 speed standard from the guy I bought the engine from. He's doing a swap to a v8, so his harness and ecu are available. Mine is in kinda crappy shape, so I was wondering if it would be straightforward to use the newer harness on the truck (using the 90's tb, intake, injectors, etc...). Any input is appreciated.

Swapping the harness is pretty straight forward as not much changed other than harness plugs and body panels. I have done it, a while ago, but I don't recall any real headaches. By switching to the newer harness, it will be easier to hook up your diagnostic tool, as the 85's have a bastard plug. One thing to consider when switching W56 transmissions is the gear ratio in overdrive. The W56-D has a higher overdrive than the A or B and I'd have to check but I think the C is the same as the A or B.
