My 1987 22RE Pickup's ECM problem has me stumped. Engine turns over but I get no check engine light when key is turned on, and the Toyota flowchart takes me to engine control module. I've been checking and cleaning connectors and grounds, since there was a leak in the windshield at one time, and found corrosion by the left side fuse box and relays. I cleaned those, along with the connectors that were accessible under the dash panel, but no joy. I tried an '86 module, which started properly, showed the engine light, and after the truck was turned off, had the same symptom. Can anyone tell me whether there are additional connections under the dashboard? I want to cover the easy stuff, but don't want to pull the dash to check the harness under the dash unless there are connectors to service under there. I have a Toyota 4WD only shop who has sensors & ECMs that can be used for diagnostics, which is my next call.
thanks.
