As you probably know, I will be swapping out my 2F for another 2F. Looking for lessons learned and smart things to do when you are doing this. If I would have asked this question prior to replacing my distributor, I probably would not be swapping out my engine.

I will take pictures of the process and develop a write-up to go with it. Lessons Learned should be shared within our community. You learn more from the things you Fawk up then you do right, at least I do. i.e., Anybody swapping out a Dizzy should make sure it is fully seated and keep a close tabs on the oil pressure (an expensive lesson).

Then maybe this can be linked into the FAQ.

All I can say is turn the flywheel, and replace the clutch, pressure plate and the TO and pilot bearing while the engine is out. You can buy a kit from JTO on ebay for around $150 (at least you could at one time.) It's better to do it when the motor is out, than having to do it a year down the road.

if its not a rebuilt motor i would also do the rear main and all other gaskets before install.
if you need help with this swap lemme know,im in parker,co. and am no stranger to this swap.

Hey Ken, how unrealistic is it to consider a basic rebuild on your motor?

From what I read you've more than likely got crank damage, but how much else?

I really don't know the cost comparison's here, but am just thinking out loud as it seems either approach will ultimately yield the same result.....?
