Hi guys
I have a 2lte that uses no oil , compression is exellent, power is decent, no IP leaks EGR plates installed, uses mobil one 20/50 delvac
and KLEEN FLO injector pump lubricant religiously 3l head no coolent problems and new fuel lines and filter

the problem is when the hand throttle is pulled out from 900 - 1300 rpm no load the revs seem to go up and down and stumbles no exessive smoke. the motor idles smooth and goes up to full load well
it just acts up at 1/4 throttle with no load. any help would be greatly

Its not a definite that it is the injectors. I would remove them and have them tested 1st.
When one problem is disproven, then move onto the next most likely.

The reason I mentioned them is because when they are tired they tend to let out a dribble of diesel at the beginning of acceleration then the spray pattern improves .
My guess is weak spring pressure.

I changed over the injectors no change. What i did notice was that everytime i undid the fuel cap and went for a drive there is suction on the cap. undo the cap
and then it runs smooth again hmmmmm .!

Mine Stumbles Too!

I've just bought a LJ78 with the 2L-TE which has a similar problem. It really sucks when driving with the throttle just cracked open. I tried checking the fuel for air by putting a piece of clear hose in the return line but no air was visible. I've run injector cleaner through it, changed fuel filters and looked for the obvious.

What did almost cure the problem was undoing the adjustment screws on the throttle position sensor. Turning one way made it worse and the other way improved it to the point where it is barely noticable, but I ran out of adjustment. I'm not sure if this is the source of the real problem or whether I'm just masking the symptoms. It still misfires a little when cold and I do have a small oil leak from the head gasket by #2 cylinder, where small bubbles of gas can also be seen escaping............ So far no oil in coolant or vice-versa.

I really must get a manual for this engine so I can sort it out - any one know where I can get one (I'm in BC)?

According to the odometer it has done 100K, and I have a timing belt and water pump ready to change over.

Suggestions welcomed! This vehicle is just perfect for me and I want to get it running right.
