Engine rebuild? (1 Viewer)

My HJ45 diesel has some major compression problems...any thoughts on rebuild or swap for used gas engine.

I'd start with inspection. Worn rings is one thing but what about all the bearing and other stuff that wear out? Then there is can you get all the parts to do the job and what does it cost for them and the machining to make stuff fit.

I’d keep it diesel if at all possible.

Start simple..
Have you checked your valve clearances?
How about retorquing your head bolts?
What do the numbers look like?
