Hey everyone,

I’m currently rebuilding the 2F engine on my 1984 FJ40, and the machine shop is planning to bore the cylinders to 0.060” over since the cylinders had been bored previously in it's lifetime.

I’m looking to source a set of pistons that will fit this spec (0.060” overbore). I’ve checked some of the usual suspects, but I’m having trouble finding pistons specifically for a 0.060” overbore.

If anyone has recommendations on suppliers, vendors, or machine shops that can provide these pistons, I’d really appreciate the help! Also, if you’ve gone through a similar rebuild and have advice, I’m all ears.

Thanks in advance!

I was just texting a local LC specialist at the local yota dealer about 1ktze engines for a different topic. He told me he just recently used pistons for those engines in a 2F rebuild. They are 2mm bigger than the 2F factory bore.

How the heck did he use pistons made for a diesel engine for a petrol engine? The tops of the pistons are radically different.

How much more to bore it out and put in liners to standard?
I thought the same, I've was told that the cost to put liners in would be around $150 per cylinder, which is much more than the price of pistons
