Thanks for the answer, I read all your post and I think you are the 2lt guru here! For now I will stay with 10w40 (maybe I will give a try with 10w30 next winter because I just changed the oil 2 weeks ago..)
I was only imaging that with thinner oil also the turbo will spin easy and earlier isn't it? Mine is very lazy and start to push only over 2700 rpm (stock engine 2lt ii with 350k km)

Regarding turbo, they are a little bit too big for the motor, so are slow to spool. Later models of 2LT-II/2LTE use the CT9, which is much smaller and would spool sooner.

It's possible you're fuel is a little low also though; but do not increase it without a way to measure EGT. It takes exhaust energy (air/fuel) to spin the turbo. More air/fuel means more boost. With work like intake/exhaust, intercooler, tuning, it's possible to get 17psi by 2200rpm with the CT20 on the 2LTE/2LT-II. It can hold this through entire rev range.
 
Hola, aquí tenéis a otro amigo de Canarias con una Hilux LN85 2L atmosférica con 418.000 km originales. Hemos hecho 400.000km con 15w40 mineral. Hemos puesto un 5w40 100% sintético base PAO en torno al 60% con Api SP (el magnesio es un poco mejor que el calcio para los ácidos del gasóleo). He visto algunos vídeos y hay una pegatina en el motor de la HILUX SURF con 2L-TE en la que recomienda 10w30 CD o mejor. Cambios de aceite cada 5000 y filtro cada 10000. Nuestra hilux no gasta aceite y va bastante bien (no hay consumo de aceite) pero me gustaría saber si alguien ha pasado de 15w40 a 5w30, creo que lo haré sin hacer ningún análisis de aceite para comprobar que todo va bien respecto al plomo, hierro, etc.
