IDI's soot up the oil regardless, compared to anything new. My buddy's '11 Duramax oil looks like gasser oil, it's so clean.

Hoping you're right, my daily commute is ~25 miles each way and almost entirely highway driving at 60+ mph. Would love to bump out my oil change intervals. UOA will tell the tale, everything else is guessing.

Turbo IDI also runs a lot cleaner than NA idi. The 1HZ etc run so rich stock they're smoking on full load. Turbo engines have to run leaner or they melt! Cleaner is the result.

I knew several people with 1KZ-TE's. Apart from cracked heads on the pre 2003 models they never gave any trouble and none were changing oil at 5,000km.

yes...my 3b runs very very clean now with the turbo and conservative fuel setting, definitely lean

Here we go, 5k km UOA attached. Looks like I can indeed go longer on OCI.

This was the baseline sample for testing a 10k km run on one oil filter per the Toyota manual. When this sample was collected I did not change the filter, only the oil. To only change one variable at a time, I'll keep the next OCI and test at 5k km as well.

Just posted my 10k km oil filter change UOA over in the thread specifically asking about that.
