So when I give my 60 gas I hear this clicking noise.... It's not too loud.. but loud enough for me and people on the sidewalk to hear.... When I release the accelerator it goes away.... And it's MUCH worse when the engine is cold.... When it reached operating temp it almost goes away.... Valves????

thanks

Steve

that's my guess...has it ever run low on oil? a quick search should yield a lot of information

Is it a clicking or more of a ticking noise? Ticking can denote a exhaust manifold leak too which would go away as the engine and manifold heat up and expand to close the gap where the leak is.

have the valves ever been adjusted?

Check your smog stuff too. I had a hose pop off the air pump and that caused what you describe.

The infamous exaust manifold leak...
My 40 plus thousands of others have one...
Carbon Monoxide in the cab is a bad thing unless your in for a loooong nap...
Pull the manifold, head to the machine shop, buy an OEM gasket and follow the torque sequence/spec's... thats what Im gonna do...
tick tick tick ;)

I just did mine on my FJ62 a few weeks ago. It sounds a whole lot better with everything buttoned up properly. I also had the smell of exhaust in the cabin before fixing it. The gf really didn't appreciate that.

I apologize in advance, I have to say this,

"Whut's that clickin' noise?"

(Apologies to Henry Cho as well.)

Thanks Guys.... I just replaced the Manifold Gasket on my 85 and it was a major pain in the butt..!! Not looking forward to doing it again...!
thanks for all the replys...!

I have had a clicking noise for awhile but have not done a tune up yet(lazy). Then I had to get my 62 smogged and found my timing was off, so I had it repaired to pass and found that clicking noise went away, hth.
