Here is an interesting mod that reduced the engine bay temperature via louvers on the hood from the J**p forum. I wonder if the same mod can be made to work on the 80.

TJ Hood Louvers Cooling

I like this idea and have been thinking about the guy that posted hand cut louvers on his LC hood.

I think that the other guy went a little $$$$$ overboard but I do like the cost of this project.

BTW I see you're from Plano, Tx. I have an Apartment there also and should be returning in the next few months, we should get together.

Sounds like a plan. I'm planning a LSLC BF repacking party in October, for those of us who needs the moral support of this   job.

I did those same louvers in my hood when I built my 62 in 2000. They do work.

Gary, please go back out and take a photo of the vents that sit at the trailing edge of the front fenders. I want to know if those will sit smoothly on an 80. Thanks.

Gary, thank you. In the thread on the hood scoop it got me thinking that with the scoop facing forward and these side vents actually functional there should be relatively good airflow. If memory serves me right on the 60 there was also a fan along the inside rear DS engine bay that was connected to a temp relay and would kick on when temps got too high and was ducted to this vent.
