Here is an interesting mod that reduced the engine bay temperature via louvers on the hood from the J**p forum. I wonder if the same mod can be made to work on the 80.

I think that the other guy went a little $$$$$ overboard but I do like the cost of this project.

I did those same louvers in my hood when I built my 62 in 2000. They do work.

Gary, please go back out and take a photo of the vents that sit at the trailing edge of the front fenders. I want to know if those will sit smoothly on an 80. Thanks.

These? They are stock 60 series vents and yes they will fit flush on an 80 fender.
Gary, thank you. In the thread on the hood scoop it got me thinking that with the scoop facing forward and these side vents actually functional there should be relatively good airflow. If memory serves me right on the 60 there was also a fan along the inside rear DS engine bay that was connected to a temp relay and would kick on when temps got too high and was ducted to this vent.

Yes the fan is mounted inside the DS fender and pulls air in and blows it on the intake manifold. I have a couple of extra side vents I think....if you want some.
