$$$$ CRAAAPPPP! Just discovered my leak a couple of weeks ago at the flex pipe. Looked closer and leak at the joint before the muffler too.

I figured it was due to an "over the river and through the woods" trip back in October, but no dents, just failures. I bought the EMS because I was sick of $$ every year to "patch" the old system. Now I'm out more money less than 2 years after spending near $1,000!

Researching the MUD, I keep hearing about "reputable exhaust shop", don't know of one in St. Louis, MO.

Questions:

Will ANY auto service that does exhaust work replace what's bad and keep what's good at a reasonable cost?
Are there any exhaust folks who could give me a range of cost for complete new system (at a local exhaust place)?

DUPED AND PISSED IN THE LOU!

Yes, any good muffler shop will replace what is bad at a reasonable cost. I would look for a locally owned shop with good ratings. I would also only get what needs to be replaced. Do you need flex's? Toyota didn't use them. I would pipe it out and make sure the hangers are well supported. Btw, I'm still waiting on an order I placed with EMS June 1, 2014. Luckily I used a gift certificate and I'm not out any money.

Here's one with lots of good reviews: https://plus.google.com/114499071903580618269/about?hl=en

For anyone in the Cincinnati area that needs their current or EMS exhaust repaired or replaced. Look into Flowtek Custom Exhaust (513-770-0060). They do great work and at pretty fair prices.

The EMS system is a different design than factory. EMS bolts to the frame with ~6" flex pipes on the downpipe section to account for engine movement. Also, it has the tail pipe behind the right rear tire where factory tail pipe was under the back bumper. I like the tail pipe behind the tire because I tie canoes on top and have rope near the factory tail pipe (heat + rope = BAD!).

Flex vs hang? I think the best scenario would be to keep the EMS solid design with the flex pipes flanged and bolted in for easy replacement when they fail.

I'll call Don's on Monday. A local shop recommended Don's, but it's in a rough part of the city and the door locks don't work too well.

Went with Custom Auto in south St. Louis near Chipewa & Macklind. Met with them yesterday. I hoped they could replace the failed flex pipes. The EMS system has a flex pipe very close to the wye they can't get a welder in there to weld in new. So I'm getting new down pipes with cats and they are going to make a wye pipe. Here's a pic of the EMS, see how close the O2 bung, flex pipe, & wye. We still don't know how to add flex into the system. $1,000 installed! EMS was $1050 2 years ago - $2,050 TOTAL ERRR!
