Luckily I have a homie in the smog department so visual isn't a problem, or at least something small like that. I only broke one little nipple that holds the vac line on, so I think I can get away with plugging it for now.

If it gives you any trouble, post up the p/n of the hac valve you have. I may have one I can send over to you as a loaner.
I failed smog again.
I just bought a used HAC valve off of Jim, tested and working. I just got a cat welded on today, got my next smog tomorrow. If it fails I am going to have to start testing everything on the emissions, or just reroute the exhaust for now like the other dude. My old cat looks fine except for a relatively small mass if you look through it at just the right angle. In the beginning I was hoping it wasn't the cat, now I'm hoping it was.
However, this smog test has gotten me to replace a bunch of stuff that was going off the deep end.

I finally passed. I finally decided to leave it at the shop and let the guy handle it. It took 2 days and $200 but he adjusted the timing and the carb better than I could. He told me I'd be looking at improved gas mileage as well. However, cops don't seem to mind too much if your tags are expired around here, I still drove my truck around with tags that expired in October of LAST YEAR. They didn't even follow me when they were right behind me which was a couple of times. Good luck with yours crusr. If you look through my posts I've done about $500 worth of parts in the past few months before I gave up and dropped it off for the tech to work on it, and that's not including all of my labor. it's would be helpful it you either photographed or scanned your previous smog tests so we could all see the exact results.
count yourself lucky you don't have a FJ62 with 2 cats to replace at worst case LOL
change out O2 sensor & EGR valve, make sure the truck has been run on the road for at least an hour and good and heated up and keep it running till the smog inspector turns it off to keep it as hot as possible, try using some Sea Foam, fresh gas, try new spark plugs
An oil change right before the Smog test is a good thing as well

The typical EGR stumble is your EGR being over-activated. Oddly enough, it may run horribly, but run clean. I went through a handful of second-hand EGR valves looking for solution to my stumbling/stuttering problem with no success. My rig runs like crap with any of them installed and in play, but runs great bypassed. For my last test, I drove to the test station bypassed. Hooked the EGR back in the parking lot and the tech could barely drive it into the bay

The tech coughed and sputtered my rig out of the bay complete with smog certificate. I popped the hood, bypassed, and drove away. Unfortunately, new OEM EGER valves are NLA
