Update for those who care or may use the search function in the future.
Install done, works great:
6-DVD changer installed in the center console, right next to and same position as stock 6-CD changer. Just about halfe the cubby is still free. It still fits my instruction manual and maintenance booklet and satnav 3-DVD box perfectly.
Also in that cubbyhole a very small metal switch was installed, for switching between the nav screens and DVD-video. Works fine.
So I can operate the DVD-player from the front now, because I can see what's on screen on the 2 rear DVD screens up front.
Operating it is easy, I have a remote, and the receiver for the remote is above and behind my rearview mirror. Very neat install.
Audio for the kids in rear is through wireless headphones, but these are buggy. I already had these, not new. I am dumping these next week, because audio will be fed to the DVD screens in rear, they have a headphone jack. Much easier for the kids, wired headphones are smaller, lighter, and no more worries about batteries, or losing the headphones, or audio/wireless interference....
Audio up front is through an FM transmitter. Turn on the radio, find an empty frequency, and set the transmitter to that frequency. Voila, audio over the car's speaker systems.....
All in all, very happy, just got back from a trip to Switzerland, and it worked great. All in all not cheap though.
WISHLIST:
- stronger FM transmitter
- wireless switch between video/satnav
