So a few weeks ago I was having some starting issues, there was high resistance in my starting system. So bad that I smoked my CB radio 😳

So I tested the battery (new AGM) no issues there, Voltage was 13.9 and load tested perfect. I removed the wiring for the CB to eliminate that, no change. Replaced my fuseable link, no change. Starter certainly saw better days, so I swapped it out with a genuine Toyota reman unit. No change 🙃

So I start inspecting cabling, all my grounds looked horrible, not the attachment point but the actually copper wiring. Ordered a "Big 7" kit from "Toyota Cables aka Jeep Cables" and I got them within three days. I can't say enough, good comments about them from the fact they're made in the USA the high-quality cabling with the fine strand and the labeled ends, it was a breeze to instal.

Rig immediately started, cranked over faster than ever. Windows went up and down faster than I could imagine... best mod to date. I still need to do the Alt. to Batt+ cable and fuse, as well as the Batt+ to Fuse block. I'll tackle that once I install my dual battery set-up.

The next item you might want to spend some time, and money on, is your heater control valve hoses, By looking at your photos those hoses are original due to the fact they still have the factory cotter pin hose clamps in place. Seeing as they are now over 30 years old, you just might want to think about replacing them sometime soon along with the PHH before they fail on you. While you're at it you might want to just go ahead and replace the heater control valve too, seeing as they get older (and yours is also over 30 years old) their hose nipples get brittle and can fail without warning.
