I can see where you are coming from but the math just doesn't make sense logically... it is true that the tops make up the majority of the order; however, they do not make up the majority of the weight/shipping cost.

If you figure that a top alone is only about 30 pounds.. the bows are about 60 pounds and the doors are about 90 pounds (just guessing)... then the 18 tops in the order make up 34% of the shipping costs, the 13 bows make up 49%, and the 3 sets of doors make up 17%. If the shipping total is $2500 then that comes out to $42.37 per top, $94.34 per set of bows, and $141.51 per set of doors.

So if you bought just a top you would pay 42.37 for shipping.. if you bought a top and bows it would be about $136.71 for shipping.. a total of $811.

Using the same method.. and having shipping cost a total of 4k the total for a top and bows is about $900. ($75.47 for top, $150.94 for bows, $226.41 for doors).

It is still quite a big jump in price comparing sea to air.. but I just wanted to point out that the prices haven't gone up that much since the last shipment. (yes Ehsan has increased has prices and gas prices have increased) but if you calculate shipping by weight then it makes a little more sense.

My point was that if we pay for shipping by air, some folks' cost (those with the heavy s***) may be substantial in actual dollar terms and that we shouldn't be talking about "just an extra 90 bucks" because it's not going to be that way for everyone. I think you made the same point, whether you intended to or not, because under your numbers, bdyer, for instance, is going to pay $174.60 more to ship by air (that is, more than the $278.22 he'd pay to float it).

But since you decreased my cost, I'm now voting for air.

Is the air freight figured on weight, or volume? Just a question. As for the bikini tops, couldn't Ehsan stick them in a long box and basically mail them to one person, they can then send them on. Seems like an easier way to send them, and not get into the issues of paying more in shipping than the top was worth on them.

Well sure, but if the heavy items pushed us way up over some limit, than maybe they don't help.

Mr. Toad... oooooooo gotcha i see what you mean now. Yea I wasn't trying to make that point but it is clear by the numbers.. some people will have a greater increase than others because it will most likely be percentage based...

anyways the best way to do this still is to just keep the tally going and see what the group wants to do.. I can go either way as mentioned before...

Isn't air freight based on volume weight or something like that? They take the linear inches and weight and used some funky calculation... and presto you have a price?

For example: You have X linear inches and Y weight. The shipping company has a table that states X linerar inches is too big for the weight they will round up to their weight for shipping costs. Conversly, if the package is under size and over weight it will get rounded up.

So.. a big light box could possibly cost the same as a small heavy box.

When the last sea shipment was damaged, it set everything back almost a year, inlcuding the two orders following it. Keep that in mind. If this order gets destroyed, Ehsan doesn't have any excess inventory to replace it with. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

I agree 100%. We set a cut off date back in Jan. so that we could get the products here by summer. I know personally, I want my top for summer...... If it dosen't come by August, I might as well have waited a year and then some for shipping being that my rig dosen't leave the barn after the 1st salt truck hits the road.

There are other orders being placed from time to time and the stocks of tops and bows is falling. You have to get down to it and order to reduce the wait.

OK. Shipping via air maybe Volume-based of weight-based, whichever is more (usually the weight is more and that gets charged).
About the prices. The price has not increased 50%. For the first few group orders that happened, there was a group price discount of US$100 per set. We had to scrap this discount because of
1- Raising production costs.
2- Better packaging- the tops and the bows are now shipped in purpose-built sturdy steel containers rather than wood crates which usually got too weak by the time the shipment reached the destination. Each such box/container costs about US$400 to make.
3- Raising oil prices has raised raw material costs drastically here in Pakistan specialy steel. Please see Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan

4- Shipping costs have increased also because of the oil prices and a few other factors.
Again. I try my level best to get the best products to you all at the minimum costs possible. This increase in the price was unavoidable at our end.
