Hi,
Just re-starting my thread regarding EGR. Following on from the fact that i couldn't locate the EGR on my '83 FJ60 2F, I am now confident that it either never had one or has been removed. The side of the engine block under the exhaust manifold is bare. So i'm back to hunting down the cause of my unstable idle. I feel like i have checked everything that i can think off (new plugs, leads, new points, timing, cleaned carby, idle mixture, valve adjustment, fixed manifold leak, vacuum hoses, new secondary diaphragm). Runs alot better but still a fluctuating idle. Is it possible that the cause of this may be the incorrect removal of emission gear or EGR? Not sure how much emission stuff these Australian models had from factory. I can see one remnant of something - there is a black hoses coming from LH front fender area that points up into the engine bay and has a rubber bung in the end of it. Maybe was part of EGR system? Anyway i have read alot about desmogging and it confuses the hell out of me and also generally relates to US models. Are there any things I should specifically check that could be causing my fluctuating idle?
