Yesterday I was outside and was listening to the thunder off in the distance. All of a sudden to the South I could hear what sounded like a huge waterfall. About 5 minutes later I was hit on the shoulder with a hailstone bigger than a golfball. I yelled at my daughter to run inside. A few seconds after that it started coming down fast and hard. I put my leather motorcycle jacket on and held a folded towel on my head and ran outside to move cars under the trees. Didn't have any glass break, but all the cars are dented all to hell with the exception of my LX that I coated with Monstaliner 5 years ago.

The weather this season has been crazy, we have gotten hail with every rainstorm. I know a lot of you already think I am a bit of a kook, but I am sure this weather has had the help of man.

This was an average size hailstone this time. Some were even bigger. Heard there were tennis ball sized hailstones in Moriarty.

So glad you are safe!
Last summer we got a crazy hard hailstorm and all our older Toyotas were perfectly fine… the 4runner we had had an aftermarket hood that as dented to hail! All the new model vehicles in the area were riddled with dents!

I’m glad your LX survived!

I’m wondering about these man made storms as well… crazy!

Parking in the trees helped a bunch. There are only 3 dents in the hood of the pickup. Jack's 4runner looks like it doesn't have any hail damage. The grocery getter LX is covered with dents. I think the travel trailer could be a complete loss.

A friend down the road had windows broken in his wife's van and his Suburban.

Somebody is messing with things, I wish I knew why.

Is your home okay?

Our screens on the widows were all crewed up and the plaster took a beating.

We park in the trees as well… we need to come up with a hail cover for windshields…

I wish I knew as well.

Yeah, the house is okay. Same with the screens. We have a metal roof so it won't leak, but is dented all to hell.

Ppl have been seeing funnel clouds in the past few weeks of storms in our area and towards Santa Fe… now what’s up with that!?!!

Guys, sorry to hear about the damage and the real potential for injury. Terrifying...

When you say...

"....I am sure this weather has had the help of man."
"’I'm wondering about these man made storms as well… crazy!"
and
"Somebody is messing with things, I wish I knew why."

...please elaborate.

We had the ground covered in about an inch of gumball/pea sized hail. I was at work and Danise called me to tell me she got a weather warning. I had been moving stuff from the old popup over to the new travel trailer and the popup was still set up. I rushed home hoping maybe I'd get there to put up the popup before hit but I was too late. Thankfully the hail wasn't big enough to damage anything at my place.

Dang glad no injuries! Bummer about the camper they really take a beating. May be some golfball looking bargain new trucks at copart soon!
