I put a 3b in an fj 60 and the edic wiring seems like it will be a pain to switch over.
I have been driving the truck because the switch lives in the run position, and then just stalling out the engine to shut it off. I have a manual glow set up, it seems like it would be a pain to switch the wiring harness just for this complicated set up that just moves a lever, I have a zip tie I slide over the ball to hold it in the enrich position, but I don't often need to use it. The oil pressure gauge works in the dash.

Am I hurting the engine by stalling it out all the time?

Hurting it, no. Extra wear and tear, yes. The wiring for the edic system is not that bad once broken down. Basically powers and ground to the edic module and the harness out to the motor, no biggie, maybe an afternoon for a nuubie.

I wired the EDIC on my daughters FJ55/3B swap but others have installed a pull button connected to the injection pump and manually do the EDIC operation. The downfall of not having the EDIC is that the low oil pressure protection uses the EDIC motor to shut down on low oil.

I would get rid of it all and use a push pull, you can over inject while starting with the push pull and then pull to kill the engine.

Also if you are worried about low oil pressure shut down you could run a inline fuel relay and cheap switch that would shut off fuel all together.

Of course this relay would starve the pump of fuel and may need priming?? Not sure never tried it....

Good luck.

Hey Radd, Cruiser guy,
Can you take some pic's of your manual edic motor cable set-up and post them for me. I'm have trouble with my kill switch also.
Thx

I don't have a manual lever as Radd Cruisers is talking about. The EDIC motor is probably working if you are able to start and stop your truck with the key only.

Sorry not pics, lost them with many more with virus problems.

Real simple, check into push pull cable kits you can purchase, they have diagrams showing how to make one.

My truck will start with the edit rod in place. My trouble is after the motor starts --the edit motor wants to stop the motor when I press the accelerator. Where should I be looking to solve this problem? Thx

Odd, generally a short in the system or grounding out.

As I have mentioned before I had a simular problem in a BJ70 and found after wiggling a wire it would shut off, poor connections was all.
