I ran the second to last tank 100% in power mode, driving agressively, 80% city 20% highway got a whopping 8.6 mpg. Next tank no power 11.6 same driving. I am currently driving as old lady as possible without power mode to see what happens.

Does this make sense? The truck didn't really feel more "powerful" seems to just stay in the lower gear longer.

The ECT/Power switch only changes your shift points to a higher RPM to give firmer shifts and to keep the RPMs higher for more power. It does not change the fuel or timing map.

But it does burn more.

I haven't noticed much difference in mpg when I leave it on for most of a tank vs. leaving it off.

I notice a difference. Spinning the motor up a few hundred rpm on every shift makes a difference. The 1FZ likes a lot of fuel when it's spinning fast. Remember the individual cylinder volumn is equal to that of a 6 liter V8.

On my 1 tank comparo (hardly conclusive) 3 mpg was the differance. I will be leaving it off. lol

Gracias!!

On a side note, I can't believe I was happy to pay ONLY 2.59.9 (regular) this morning at Costco. Dunno 55.00 seems pricy for a tank of gas. On Saturday in my other car I paid 263.9 at a different Costco.

I haven't compared the mileage, but I will say the few extra RPMs sure are nice driving on 33's at 7,000 feet with stock gears. :)

Its either that or manually downshifting at every hill (city, not highway)...

I'm amazed that I'm getting 16mpg city with the new LX and the 275hp engine. Quite impressive, especially since my daily drive includes about 15 lights in 7 miles.

I haven't had a long drive with it yet, but if the "instantanious" display is right it appears I'll be flirting with 20.

212 horse actually. Torque is 275 lb-ft.

Over several thousand miles, I noticed about a 1mpg change between the two settings. I let it short shift now.

Think he's talking about his new LX470.

By gum I believe you are correct.....

I drove old ladylike and got 9.5 (90% street, one 20 mile trip fully loaded with stuff) I have as yet to do an extended freeway trip so I have no clue what that will be but I will be shortly doing a 2200 mile Mexico run. Hope I get 14-16.
