I dove into the install of my EC Offroad Tesla style head unit last night. There are a lot of wiring harnesses provided for different things. Many of which I don’t think I need. Even the main harness has parts of it that are not used or are replaced by other bits they give you.

One of the harnesses has me scratching my head though. It is labeled 2009–2014 airbag transfer cable. It looks like an extension harness with matching male and female connectors on either end. The install videos do not show this and it doesn’t seem that I need it but I’m just curious if anyone who’s installed This unit has used this harness.

Update to help future installers. You do not need the air bag harness for US spec 2013 LC. I suspect it’s not needed for all model years.

Also, you need to be careful with the grey plug on the main harness. It’s the output to the amp but you don’t use it. You use the separate one also provided. You end up with both grey plugs sitting there and if you plug the wrong one into the head unit you will get no audio.
