Why would anyone want LED tail lights - what's the functional benefit for the driver (or even the person driving behind you)?

Quicker light time as well as bulb longevity.

At 80mph (I can't remember the numbers exactly), but LED's provide a .8 second driver reaction time over standard filament bulbs do to the quickness of LED's. Infinity claimed that years ago when I was looking at the QX56 and asked about the benefits of them.

If you drive a vehicle around with LED tail lights and notice in the back how fast they go on, you realize how great they are. I didn't get it until I drove a new Lexus.

They look good, my dads hundy had an ebay brand housing for his headlights and they have held up, not sure about the quality of these tail lights tho

I've ordered LED tail lights for many vehicles, I love the look and the benefits of LEDs.

Those don't look bad...although I'm confused as to why they have a chromed section on the liftgate portion of the housing, as it looks like there isn't a place for an incandescent bulb for the reverse lights, just the white LEDs on the sides. Looks a little goofy IMO, they should have put white LEDs in both sections or made the lense red on the liftgate portion. It's like there's a section there that isn't being used for anything.

I've had good experiences with my LED knockoffs, but YMMV.

As an aside, does anyone know if the OEM LED tails from the 06/07 cruisers will fit on an older model? I'm sure they are expensive as all h3ll, but OEM would be the way to go for quality.

the reverse LED's look kinda cheesy? the red portion looks great but the reverse part looks pretty lame and in one of the pix it looks like the hole for the regular style oem bulb is still visible? just my .02. otherwise they are pretty cool looking...

Although they may be OK, If I was going to spend ~$200 for LED tail lights, I'd get some salvage yard take-offs from an 06.

true, but what are the chances of finding an 06 in a salvage yard? I've been trying to find a set of oem 06 LED tail lights:mad:

Wouldn't it be easier to just get a good set of LED replacement bulbs for the stock housings. I know alot of the LED bulbs are junk, but there is bound to be atleast one good one out there. The Putco Nova is tempting w/ lifetime warranty, but i havent been able to find any reviews on them.

Seems like it would be cheaper, easier, and you keep OEM quality.

I think the lights were mentioned in order to update the look of an old hundy into a new one

LED'S dont use half as much power as regular bulbs.. im lookin to change all my globes over to LED's, brighter and last longer :-)

I have these lights on my rig, replaced only because I was rear ended and needed new ones anyway.

I like them much better than stock. The back up lights are actually pretty cool looking!

Could you get pics night/day with them on? Maybe putting a bit of distance from the tail lights in question might make them more/less appealing.

I added two obnoxiously bright LED lights to the back of my truck for faster warning/warning when my bikes are on the back. They definitely keep people off my bumper.

are you referring to the two bright lights on your roof rack or just bulbs you replaced in the oem brake light housing?

I'll post a couple of pics probably by tomorrow.

Anyone found quality aftermarket tail light housings with LEDs? I put LED in the factory housing, but my housing are leaking, faded and cracked and I'd like to replace them and the 06-07 factory LED tail light set is too expensive.

Disadvantage

I'm all for LED bulbs for the reasons mentioned above, but on disadvantage comes to mind for those of us that live up north (in my case Alberta). The LEDs don't warm up so the snow tends to build up on them, decreasing your visibility. I minor consideration for most, but worth mentioning.
