Ambulance doors would be sweet. The very first thing the dealership had to do for me was to put the 2x4 in to keep the rear window up after it's blew the motor/gears/whatever when I went to demonstrate it to a friend. I was never a fan of the tailgate in the 55, even after learning all it's secrets.

If he's looking for much more than $20k, he's really optimistic I'd think.

Some rich postman could be smiling at this, though.

FJ55

That's a nice truck but a lot of $$$. I paid $6500 for my Aussie pig three years ago- and it ran great with a very solid rust free body and clean interior. $20K is a lot of money for a 55 these days. The amby doors are cool, unique to be sure, but a tailaget is a great place to sit while eating luch on the trail! Gary S

Gary, I'm off topic, but tailgates are great, picture three little jerks @ 1962, sitting on Dad's jeep station wagon's tailgate and dragging our horseshoe taps, just to make sparks. Loved it!

It was loaded down with newspapers and in the middle of the night. Couldn't do that today.

Sweet Gary! What happened to that Pig?

Amby Doors!

Mike, you bought your Pig new at the dealer?!? That would have been a trip...

Yep, it had been sitting there awhile. IIRC, it was Feb 1977. Went to one dealer, who referred my to IIRC Tom Wood Toyota in Indianapolis. Yep, they still had it, buried in the back of the lot. I looked her over and fell in love, even though she was a Pig.:princess::hillbilly:

Rubber mats. No radio. Had A/C. New Car Smell. Missing the front hub caps with the lockout cutouts (sorry, sold as is). Put some money down and a few days later we hooked up at the local dealer. Cost? $6200. [I'll note here that we paid $7200 for our FZJ 80 in 2009, which has proven to be an even better deal.)

Man it was a ride like no one else had around here, more or less. There were a few FJ40s, as anyone with class that wanted to go jeepin' would do it in a LandCruiser.

A brand new Pig! How long did you keep her?

Aussie pig

Nathan at Ironpig Offroad now has the Aussie pig. I never did get used to (read that: like) the right hand drive. Cam from IPOR bought it from me and then ended up selling to Nathan. It was/is a great running and unique piggy and I feel; it is in good hands. Gary S

Electric windows suck. Give me a hand crank any day... Just my worthless comment. :D

I get that dealers use eBay as free advertising, but in this case, I'm a little surprised that there was no movement on the bids on this one.

Yes, the sticker shock is hard to recover from and it is RHD, but considering the condition in pics, the ambi doors, and low mileage which does mean a lot to some, I'm surprised that there wasn't any bids on this.
