Just a heads up on this FJ62 Ebay auction

1988 Toyota : Land Cruiser

This truck was listed on Craigslist for a few weeks back in March and April. Initially the asking price was $5,000 but ended up at $3,700 before the truck got hit. Thetaxmonkey and I were looking into the LC when it was hit from behind while parked on the side of the road.

In correspondence with the guy selling it we were told that because he only for $1,500 from his insurance he felt a fair price for a damage LC (sight unseen and without information on the condition of the frame) was $3,500. Since he was trolling for his original price (asking + insurance) our conversation did not continue further. I believe the truck was totalled and he did a buy back from his insurance. Additionally, the pricing for work done on the auction is inflated from what he listed on craigslist.

Might be a good deal for someone local buying for a parts truck. If you're watching or bidding, do it with eyes wide open.

if it truly has a new A440F in it, it might be a steal.

Technically, the title is still clear. I ran the carfax:

How much is an A440F worth?

I paid almost 3 grand to have mine rebuilt (including the t-case).... so if that truck trades anywhere in that neighborhood, it is a steal. The ad says that they are $5700 from Toyota, and I've heard that they run about $6k installed... but I didn't price a new tranny when mine died. I believe that the extreme valve body from OZ runs in the mid $3k range. All I know is that a factory new tranny has to be better than what I wound up with.

Not fraud...

Just giving info about a previous experience with this rig, not suggesting fraud.

I got a quote when I went to toyota about a new tranny and it was around $6k so if the tranny in this vehicle is new as he says and it goes for $3k or so, I would think it would be a steal as well. Plus you could always salvage what parts that are in good shape.
