How does it handle on the street w/ the soa. Or better yet does anyone use there pig as a daily driver and have a soa? I love the way it looks but at what cost.
New pig owner long time 75' 40 owner.

SOA rides fine down the road.. really the tires you choose dictate the comfort of the ride.. i.e. my SS SX with 15000 road miles pluse two years of wheeling made for an interesting ride (unrelated to the suspension) and the 33's I use to get to the trails ride like a cadillac : )

A properly set up SO is equally as safe and effective as SUA but offers more flex and .. oh, and more flex (dependent on variables and as a general comparison), and clearance of the axles, etc.

There are lots of posts on how to SO and estimated costs.. search the 40/55 forum and others....a good option is to determine the list of parts and tasks and break it down. You should do cross over steering at the same time to make it an overall improvement.

There are pics of my process here:beer:

My truck runs great on the road. At an indicated 58 MPH I guess I'm going close to 70MPH with 35" tires. I went with BFG mud terrains and they balanced perfectly- no vibration at any speed I can reach!!!! Handling is great- not as top heavy as I had feared and I believe a lot of reason for that is my using the wider than stock (by 3 inches) FJ62 axles front and back. The FJ62 power steering setup done ala Mark Whatley works great and the high steer components from Luke Porter are fine, too. I have absolutely no regrets about my spring over and would do it again in a minute. As long as the person doing the work is competent, patient and careful it's a big improvement in all ways (except for ease of getting in the truck!!!!). Gary S
