Girlslovedirt- looking at there links looks fun but the web site says does not open until April 1 & you mentioned march/april??? May want to look at the dates park opens first before planning trip-but yes interested.
 
I am interested also.........just depends on dates and if the 40 is up for the haul

and as long as it wasn't as cold as the ride to Tellico last weekend...........because I still won't have my doors or hard top on :)

I know you started this wheelin in Uwharrie, but can you start one for us living here in Hampton Roads since we have a few to name like Arya, hobbes, me, stresspuppy and you. Say go caravan and go down to OBX. It will be great to see a lot of 80s driving down on 168 towards OBX. Whadyathink?
 
It would be cool to ride around on the beach, but it's not like pismo or anything. You can't ride on the dunes or anything, so you pretty much just drive to a spot and stop, get out and fish/sunbath/eat whatever... at least URE has some rocks to climb and stuff.

that is pretty much a summer thing. I went to OBX last year during the winter and i don't think i have ever been that cold in my life. The wind coming off the ocean will make you get on your knees and pray. I'm up for it some time in the summer. Theres a really cool camp out right by the 4x4 beach entrance its all primitive camping but has shower stalls and restrooms.
 
Dude, we should REALLY get a summer trip to Portsmouth Island, NC! You ferry your cruiser over there and there are no roads, just sandy beach. Air down, ride around and find a good spot to fish and drink. SLeep in/on/under the cruiser. It's soooo much fun, and the fishing is usually pretty good. If you want a shack you can rent one. They don't have power, except some have a generator.

Sounds good to me. I'll be in school and in this area till april of next year so i have plenty of time to fart around.
Never been to portsmith island got any info and or links.
maybe start a thread on it :D
 
I just did a search on google and didn't come up with much. There are a few historic homes and structures to look at if you like, but watch out for the mosquitos. As long as you stay out on the beach you are fine.

Actually, i'm glad there's not much info about it. It's usually not crowded at all. Kinda a secret. I'll try to get some info together and post a trip up.
 
This sound pretty cool :cool: as I already blew 2 weeks of my time off already so something sort of close to home sounds fun :D

Dude, this is great. Ride on a ferry, drink, fish, offroad, and sleep on a secluded no crowd beach. Sounds like a Pismo in the East Coast. Let's wait til summer and maybe we all can meet and hit this Portsmouth Island. Hope I get an OME lift by then. Sounds cool though.
 
Sounds Cool. I was out there today and it was cold and windy. All trails closed until April 1st except for a small loop of mud holes at teh end of Road 555, but hardly worth a trip just for that. I was bored and a friend wanted to see the sights...2 hours later we were there.
