I would like to eventually do a diesel swap into my '74 fj55 and would like to start getting what I need. What would be the easiest diesel swap into this?
Thanks

I would say 3B.

My daughters truck runs a turbo'd 3B with the stock 4 speed and single peice case. It wasn't too tough and it's ALL Toyota!!

Why a complete donor for the 1hz? What if I had engine transmission and transfer? Do the 2h or 1hz use the same motor mounts?

Easiest, probably 2H as its almost a straight replacement for an F motor in other landcruisers.

The best is one that has the power to suit your needs.

this way you have the rad, hoses, engine mounts and location, angle the engine sits at, all accesories, driveshaft flanges, shifters.
if you can find an old mine truck as a donor then this would be best since the bodies are usually beat but the drivetrains are complete (in my very limited experience).
it is true you do not NEED a complete vehicle but it can make the swap eaiser...
cheers

good call

2H 105 HP @ 3500 rpm and 188 lb/p Torque @ 2000 IDI

12H-T 135 HP @ 3500 rpm and 232 lb/p @ 2000 DI

1HZ 135 HP @ 4000 and 187 lb/p @ 2200 DI

I thought the 1HZ was IDI?
