I got this manual years ago, pulled it out of a 63 fj40.I have never seen another like it. All the pics show rhd,two sided turn signals, the -3 on the frame...Was this a 63 only manual?

this one was printed '63 and later

has the same illustrations as Whitey's from first post

things that struck me as ODD:

23mm lug nuts

dual sided front turn signals

small rear stop lamps

metal covered fuse panel

large gas cap

this manual also illustrates the large "metal" tool kit and RHD steering column depicting a domestic model, but the manual is written in English?

it's probably hard to see, but in the third picture of the glove box, all writing is Japanese

this one is nearly identical as the previous one, with three exceptions...............................

color, # on back is NO. 6040 and it has a "maintenance" fold-out in the rear

I have one of these.

I'm pretty sure that these ran from '64 through '66

this manual also has a full 7 pages illustrating the "conversion" from hard top to soft top

illustrations that were thought to be first years for the "fresh air" heaters ........but (LV Wagons had fresh air set-ups with the early Nippon Denso heaters............Whitey:hhmm:)

also shows the larger 3 screw hole rear view mirror

Sean ,mine has the maintenance fold out as well. Here is a pic of your elusive split windshield!

I serious doubt this owner's manual was included with a cruiser imported to the US by Toyota. The rear half hard/half soft ambulance doors were never offered
here option or not just like the fold out glass on the windshield. Even back then we were not getting stuff other markets were getting. Really don't care for the fold out windshield but I would like having a set of soft top ambulance doors for my soft top tub with barn doors.

just the opposite here..................especially after putting together a soft top with ambulance doors, it makes NO SENSE whats so ever. what a pain having ambi doors when it's time to remove the soft top. they don't come off as easy as you'd like.

on the flip side who wouldn't want a split windshield..................awesome!!!

My biggest complaint with the windshield I have a feeling the the weatherstripping is going to be issue. Mike said it would take 250 tops for someone for them to tackle it. This windshield have less then five in the country. So I'm happy with the vent on the bottom.

The the other hand my FJ40 soft top tub already has barn doors. With soft top ambulance doors, the top half comes off when you take off. So no issue there.

the one problem i have with the split windshield is the lack of defrosts...they could probably be added relatively easily...although ...i wouldnt want to hack into a cool and rare thing like that either...they are Very Cool :)

I still see a problem with weatherstripping on a windshield the opens in the front. Too many problem posted on teh windshield to cowl gasket. I had problem with missing top weatherstripping on my 68. I remember the issue of weatherstripping on these that one was shipped here from Pakistan.

Curious Sean what was so hard about taking off the top half of the two ambulance doors? My biggest problem with these doors is I have never seen them for a cruiser with the spare tire on the right side. I remember the thread on these a while back and question if they coulb be made this way but never really got a answer.

If the original manual in this thre3ad is out of a 63 I find that interesting. The Toyota emblem and 4X4 emblem didn't show up here until the 65 model. The back pictures of the different soft top option shows the emblems.

John, sorry for the confusion, the pic of the split windshield is from a 66 brochure! Johnny, defrost is simple, crack the windshield open slightly!

My 43 have the spare tire on the right side and I have the softop ambi doors. To unscrew the upper vinyl door parts need max 5 min.
Not a big deal ;)
Cheers
Peter
