It's been mentioned by a Mud member to post this thread here, giving it a shot. I've got an original green starter from a `67 FJ40 I parted and would like to put in my `66. The drive gear is pretty beat up and tore up the ring gear on the flywheel. My local starter guy says he'd have to make that gear on the starter. Hoping someone has one in pieces, looking to part out? A shot in the dark, idk how many of these are laying around still. He said also, look for a spare solenoid as it's not re-buildable. I'm looking to purchase both if someone's got parts for these.

I've got one from a parts haul a few years ago, that has a tag on it that it needs a rebuild
I'll try and find it today and check the gear

here are some pics
some wear on the gear, tried to get pics of it
says bad bendix on the tape
no idea, as it was like this when I got it.

Interesting you're in both of my posts. I appreciate you taking the time to dig it out, however looks similar to mine. I was hoping. Appears to be a common thing with these starters, and maybe was the reason for their extinction. Well, my truck doesn't know the difference, just me. I'll keep looking.
Once again, thanks for your time. I've dug through parts to send a pic for assistance, you get what ya give here.
Best
