the fixed cab 45s from 1962-1964 are probably my favourite landcruiser of all. I learnt to drive in one of these and have collected a couple including a nice but dismantled 1962 that is an early one on the registry.

so thought I might start a discussion regarding early variations and the evolution of this cab.

firstly the reinforcing ribs at the back of the cab were originally 6 narrow ribs pressed proud of the cab when looking from the rear; later where 4 wide ribs recessed back into the cab. early pictured.

the early cabs had no ashtray, so slider rear window locks and no provision for clips to stow the crankhandle behind the earlier 'triangle' shaped toolbox.

mine also has pressed steel door keepers instead of the later cast alloy piece

cab reinforcing, toolbox, crankhandle storage, ashtray and door keepers seem to have been early changes. rear window locks came later during 63 sometime and then later again seems to be the flat roof as opposed to the ribbed roof.

would like to hear of any other variations that mudders have noticed. did the seat frames change with the toolbox shape? I havnt studied this yet. my 1962 also has "fj25" etched into some of the remaining glass.
