I just called the Prather Ranger Station and was told Dusy-Ershim is open. (559)855-5360

She said they wont change their website until Aug 1st because that's the official opening date.

We went in last weekend and cleared the trail. There were 84 trees between White Bark Vista and Voyager Rock Campground. 70 of those were between Parking Lot in the Sky and Ershim Campground,5 in the campground itself. There's still work to be done in the campground and a crew will go in this weekend to handle that. North of Lakecamp Lake there's a stretch we are now calling Tornado Alley. The whole landscape has changed with many large trees down all over. Both of the old toilets at Ershim Campground were removed also.

Apparently some crazy winds, none of us on the trail crew had seen anything that bad on a 4WD trail before. It was so bad in one spot the trail was changed to go around it. Several large trees were on top of eachother and holes in the trail from upturned rootballs.

I would say your 80 would need lift at least, but I'm not a good one to ask that to. Will link some videos when I can.

Crew leader asks that if you are going in this weekend please stay away from the work area, those working on the project have been trained by the forest service and are covered under Forest Service insurance.

Thanks.

Hey Ed who's going in? Birdsong any of them ?

These trees came down less than a week after we cleared the trail. A friend of the club was going in anyway and cleared them for us,Thanks Chris.

Thanks for all the trail maintenance and hard work BigEd. That trail really keeps you busy!

I think I'm finally ready to go back mentally, but the rig will need some work before it can hit that trail again.

Your welcome,my favorite trail for sure. And I wouldn't be surprised if more trees came down over the summer, there were many that looked precariously perched. Be aware of your surroundings and take a saw if you have access to one.

Lots of camp fire wood!

Some camping areas yes, others no. There's a lot at Ershim, but it wont burn this year. Some of the smaller stuff will burn next year.

we'll be there Weds through Sunday.

can't wait...first time on the epic Dusy!

Have a great trip and give a report when you get back.
