Alright I would like to start this debate as i have to make up my mind very quickly. I've done a lot of research and as a result it got me absolutely no where... Seems like there are a lot of mixed feelings about the Grabber At2, people either claim they are the BFG with better pricing or they are a lesser expensive knock off... but for whatever reason it is they are rated in the extreme snow conditions by the RAF (snowflake symbol) and that's important for me. That naturaly brought me to the Duratrac as well because they have the same rating and ive heard a lot of good things about the duratrac's but they are newer and dont have a tread life warranty, not good, i drive A lot so this is a concern to me. Lastly the BFG All terrain; i have noticed its a favorite on here but i just threw it in for the heck of it, i see a lot of mixed reviews on these too and they don't have the RAF Rating. im getting these in the popular 285/75/16, my first pair of 33's:D which excites me.

P.S. I'm willing to accept a gas mileage drop but there are a lot of sharp high speed turns am i going to notice a large difference from my 275/70/16 AT's?

And starting a new tire thread will?

Seriously, everyone is going to tell you that the tires they have run are the best thing on earth. There are already dozens of threads in this sub-forum on this topic and dozens more in the other sub-forums. Look at peoples opinions and experiences and formulate a decision.

The BFG ATs are the best. ;)

haha very true but opinions on here seem to be better than the jeep or ford forums so i figured id give it a shot. as for searching around on here i did a little bit, i just thought talking about all three on one thread might benefit someone else as well, besides who doesn't like a little tire debating?

Nitto Trail Grapplers are so quiet they cannot be measured on any known sound recording device. They last so long that they wear grooves into your driveway. They are so good in rain that their tracks remain bone dry for 10 minutes. They grip so well that they snap engine mounts and control arms. Finally, they are so good off road, that you will lose interest in crawling and overlanding all together as it is no longer a challenge.

End of discussion.

well i don't know about a mud terrain in the slush/packed snow/ice category usual that's what an AT does better

I've had my 275/65/18 grabber at2's on for a couple months. They are plenty quiet enough. But anything short of an mt will be quiet in our trucks. I dropped 1.5 mpg moving to them from my stockers. Power loss was noticeable even with my 5 speed. They grab the snow and ice great. But I got them studded, so I have no clue how they are studless. I'll let you know next season - studs come out this summer. I would buy again from what I've experienced so far. Maybe 275/70/18 next time if I can get a house with a tall enough garage door.

The 285 DTs come with a 40k treadwear warranty. Not sure where you've heard different.

Buy them. You'll like them. They kick ass in every measurable category and taste like chicken.

I've used both BFG AT and General grabber at2 as winter tires.

The General tire has way more grip on ice/snow.
BFG has longer tread life, but is useless on ice.

These tires have very similar offroad capabilities, and onroad handling/noise.
Of these two, i eventually chose the grabber as a winter tire.

The GY duratrac is probably better offroad due to a more open pattern, and from what i hear from users here in Norway, they are ok as a winter tire and onroad, but i havent tried them myself.

^Pfran is the most interesting man in the world??

Not really. He stole that line form me, making me the most interesting man in the world.

Duratracs out of that selection.

THE END of this discussion.

Thanks everyone, went with the duratracs.. now its down to patients. i went with the boring 275/70/16 cause the rig might get traded come spring. hopefully for just a newer 100

P.S. if your read this then you are obligated to post pictures in the 100 forum :D

I'm glad you started this thread because I was sick of reading all the others. Now that I have 5 18" rims I'm in the same boat, I like the Duratracs too.
