All the best with the build man! You are blazing a path that no ones been down for sure so its time and money consuming! But well worth it in the end I'm sure. Can't wait to see this rig out and about.

I'm don't even care much for LC's, but I registered to this forum just so I could sub to your build :).

Sorry for the late reply and happy New Year to all. Once I've made up a set of brackets and everything is sitting where it should, I should be able to make as many as people want (for a price). I don't know how well the stock trans would hold up and I don't think anyone has made an adaptor or is in the process of making an adaptor yet.

If Mark's adapter makes adapters for a GM V8 to the stock tranny, will those adapters not work with this engine? I'm guessing not. Seems like going with a GM trans would be the easiest way to go in terms of torque handling and ease of adaptation to the Toyota Tcase. Maybe use a 4L70E trans perhaps? Not sure if the 4L60E is up to the torque of this engine even though the trans can easily handle the weight of the 80 series.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi Brad,

Sounds like you might be making some progress, good to hear. I'm currently knee deep in wiring with mine...

What mounts are you using from the block itself? Standard ones? Reason I ask is that (you may already know this!) the silverados and sierras use a mount that bolts between the engine mount and the chassis mount. I used these and cut them back to suit the profile of the chassis and then welded them in place.

The other advantage is that they're shaped to fit the factory engine/block mount.

alia176, that would be great if i wanted an Auto, but alas i already have a manual LC. I find them more .... fun :P

I have an Allison to go behind the engine which is what is used from factory. The only problem is that no one (when I started) had made an adaptor for the Allison transmission to Toyota T/case, only a patrol adaptor so that is why I have go down this path.

I didn't realize that an Allison would actually fit in the trans tunnel, interesting.

Nice build, wish u the best of luck . Please keep us updated with the process

Brad, after reading this thread I was curious why you decided that a turbo diesel was necessary? Did you consider a large bore gas motor like a LS1 or LS2? Hope the conversion is going well!

Thread necropsy- he's either finished it or abandoned it. I'm guessing the latter due to the complexity.

Well this is the story. I started an engineering business at the start of last year, had no spare time and needed money so the engine and trans had to go. I have since purchased an LS2 for it and I should be bolting it in soon.

I am using the original A442F trans with a Nomad valve body and custom billet torque convertor.

PID Diesel do the adaptor for a petrol auto transfer case adaptor for the Allison , he also does custom sumps ,I think Heath is the only one to have finished a hundred series and no these things are not a five minute job to convert lol

a member is looking to buy my right/passenter front inner-fender. after some confusion about it not looking removable... it seems it is removable if the veritcal member which is acting as the passenger side wall of the engine bay comes with it (see attached).

so my question is, can the truck still be slightly drivable with this removed? (i need to be able to get it out of a garage and onto a car carrier then off the car carrier to an LC shop for them to work on my project) or would you say he needs to bring his rusted out piece so we can 'swap' and he gets my rust free one and i have "something" to keep the engine bay intact for 200' of driving?

thanks,

hak

Borrowed a mock-up engine and trans, sump is missing but we are getting some new sumps cast up to suit.

Engine sitting roughly in position, 4” exhaust is going to fun to run! I will probably need to move the radiator back towards the engine to fit all the coolers in, I will have a custom radiator, aftermarket A/C condenser, trans cooler and A2A aftercooler.
