The one below is the only one I have taken from the front. I have already removed the accessories from the front but I can take another from directly in front if you like.

hi, loved reading the build up. i only recently had decided on the Chev 6.2l from Brunswick Diesel, but having down some more research and reading a few forumns the power and torque generated from the Duramax is awesome.

i too live in Perth and would love to know if you got your engine from the states and imported it... or did you/are you going through a local agent in WA. sounds like you are doing all the hard work yourself, as im not mech savy, is there anyone here in WA that would tackle a conversion for my 100 series.

cheers, keep up with the build and pics.

Gav

Awesome build Brad, interesting that the fuel filter and primer pump assembly are on the opposite side, I guess they have to be to accomodate the RHD steering shaft!

Mike L is a top notch guy, and the precision converters are awesome. I look forward to seeing your project finished.

Me too, I work away for 5 weeks at a time so it will be a slow process.

Just read through the thread! Great work... I don't think there's enough room for this setup in my 40 :-/

Thanks jetranger, where there is a will, there is a way :)

Hi Gary, I estimate the engine and trans to be approx 1140lbs. I am looking at using a W2A intercooler set-up. Not sure on what make but could end up being a custom job. I don't think there is enough room for a front mount A2A without a lot of mods to the radiator support panel. For touring in the Aussie outback I would prefer a W2A intercooler because in the deserts it is slow driving in sometimes soft sand.

Great conversion. Ive been thinking about this one for quite some time. It would be great if you would weigh the engine/tranny combo if possible as well. What are you going to use for an intercooler? Mounting?
PLEASE DO!!!! I would pay to drive one or even see it complete here in Colorado. BTW good luck with this build. It would be great so see this actually work and complete. Seems to me the perfect setup for the 80...

Any progress Brad?

A couple of questions if you don't mind!

I assume your using the factory ECM and TCM, are there any difficulties wiring these in? immobilisers etc?

I've seen pics of dmaxs with rear sumps, any reason you couldn't use one of these?

Is the Patrol TC capable of running in full time 4wd mode or does it lack the necessary centre diff?

Who is making the TC adaptor? will it be available to us here over the ditch? and will they do one for the cruiser TC??

Sorry that was a few more than a couple!

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,

I will be using the LBZ ECM and TCM, with only engine and trans wiring harnesses. The ECM will be programmed to suit my application so we can configure whatever we want. I will be using an aftermarket immobiliser and GPS tracker. I will also be using a 5 position switch that has different tunes eg, economy, towing, sports, maxed out :) It would be possible to use one of the switch positions for an immobiliser so the tune doesn't fire the injectors.

The rear sump sits too low and will foul on the diff centre.

The Patrol TC is only P/T. I have converted my current 80 series to part time and love it so this one will be going the same way.

Heath in QLD is who I have got the adaptor plate and output shaft from. I believe he and Marks adaptors will be making a Toyota adaptor this year at some stage.

The yellow car is an RX3 Coupe. Will be running an RX7 series 5 13BT. That's the wife's car, my toy is a Torana LH SLR500

Fantastic build, looking forward to the rest of the story!

You mentioned that someone will be building an adapter for the Landcruiser TCase. Was that Mark's adapter or someone else?

I was also curious as to why you stripped the interior and removed the body from the frame?

Cheers.

A bloke named Heath Lawson in QLD is supposed to be making one this year and maybe Mark's adapters. I am doing a full ground up rebuild.
